GENERAL ASSISTANCE NOTICE
The Town of Madawaska administers a Gereral Assistance Program pursuant to Title 22 MRSA § 4305. The municipal officers have adopted an Ordinance establishing that program. A copy of this Ordinance is available for public inspection at the Madawaska Town Office and/or the Madawaska Safety Complex.
The State of Maine's General Assistance Statues are also available for inspection. These statues are provided to the municipality by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
Persons applying for General Assistance may obtain an application at the General Assistance office or the Town Office during regular business hours. Applications will be reviewed by appointment only.
You may schedule an appointment by contacting Donna Leonard at the Town Office at 728-6351. Appointments will be scheduled on Tuesdays betwwen 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
An applicant may contact the Madawaska Police Department at 728-6356 if an emergency situation occurs in the evening or during the weekend.
Applicants will be issued a written decision within 24 hours of receiving an application.
