Madawaska Emergency Medical Services
Aside from responding to emergency calls in Madawaska and providing mutual aid for neighboring towns, the ambulance staff is responsible for maintaining the Safety Complex Building and staying current with their EMT and paramedic licenses that expire every 3 years.
The Madawaska Ambulance Department is made up of 16 paramedics and drivers, however only 5 are full-time. Last year, this Department responded to a little over 600 emergency calls and continues to host free blood pressure clinics 2 days a week at various elderly homes, cover all sporting events at Madawaska Schools and offer CPR and basic First Aid Training classes. Last year the Madawaska Ambulance Department received a 2015 ambulance with up-to-date technology with capabilities to respond to more emergency situations. They were also able to purchase a new cardiac machine to replace 1 of their fourteen-year-old machines and hope to purchase another one this coming year.
The Madawaska Ambulance Department has a dedicated, professional staff willing to go to great lengths in order to help the community. To become a member of their team, contact 728-6126.
